2013 06 30 ORLANDO RESTAURANT MARLOWs TAVERN AND ATMOSPHERE

MARLOW'S TAVERN WINTER PARK
Address: 1008 S Orlando Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789
Phone:(407) 960-3670

Hours:  Friday hours 11:30 am–12:00 am
MARLOW'S TAVERN

MY FIRST VISIT TO MARLOW'S TAVERN WAS INTERESTING. THE SET UP WAS TRICKY. DID NOT CIRCLE THE ENTIRE BUILDING TO REALIZE THAT THERE WERE TWO ENTRANCES.  IT WAS HARD TO TELL WHICH WAS THE MAIN ENTRANCE. AND, WE WERE PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK.

WHILE WAITING FOR FRIEND IN PARKING LOT AND NOT SEEING HIS CAR, I WENT INSIDE TO PEAK AND DID NOT REALIZING THAT THE PARKING LOT SANDWHICHED THE RESTAURANT.

SO, WE WERE BOTH WAITING AT THE PARKING LOT AT THE SAME TIME ON OPPOSITE ENDS WITH THE RESTAURANT IN THE MIDDLE.  (IT WAS ENTERTAINING BECAUSE FOR A SECOND I THOUGHT I WAS IN THE WRONG RESTAURANT.) WE COULD HAVE JUST WAITED INSIDE. HA!

THE DOOR HANDLES ARE SOOOOO CUTE.
I THOUGHT THE OTHER SIDE WOULD HAVE A FORK HANDLE, BUT NOPE, ALL SPOON.

INSIDE WAS NICE AND DARK WITH HIGH COMFTY BOOTHS TO SIT IN.
BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT WAS SO DARK AND THE LIGHTS THAT WERE SHINING DOWN ON EACH TABLE WERE SO STRONG THAT IT WAS HARD TO READ THE MENU WITH THE GLARE.  I WAS CONSTANTLY SHIFTING MY MENU TO DODGE AND GET LIGHT AT THE SAME TIME.  OH BOY!

NOTICED THAT THEIR "WALL DECOR" WAS FULL OF BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT.  THE RED CEILINGS ARE BRILLIANT, GIVING IT THAT RED MOODY GLOW.  I ALSO LOVE THE SPLASH OF RED THAT ARE SPORADICALLY ACCENTUATED ABOVE THEIR DROP DOWN LIGHTS. MODERN CHIC!

2012 08 10 YELPING: ALE HOUSE IN HUNTERS CREEK

OK SO I'VE NEVER REALLY BEEN A FAN OF THE ALE HOUSE, BUT LIKE GOING TO ALL PLACES ONCE IN A WHILE JUST IN CASE, BY CHANCE SOMETHING DIFFERENT COMES UP ON THE MENU THAT I ELECT TO TRY THAT TURNS OUT TO BE THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD.

DATE ON LOCATION :  8/10/12 6PM-ISH

(LOCATION) 13536 John Young Parkway Orlando, FL 32837
2 OF 5 STARS
((((((((((((((((SKIMMING SIZE AND TASTE))))))))))))))))))))))))
(SERVICE) = LIKE!
(FOOD) = AVERAGE/EXPECTED, YAWN AGAIN
UNLIKE BIG BROTHER, I SHOULD JUST EXPECT THE EXPECTED AND NOT BE TOO HOPEFUL AT TIMES SO THAT I COULD BE OVERLY ECSTATIC WITH JOY WHEN SOMETHING GREAT APPEARS.
HAD THE B-52 ($5.95) IN WHICH MY FRIEND SUGGESTED, AND I'M HITTING THE "LIKE" BUTTON IN THE AIR.  THE ONLY SLIGHT DISLIKE WAS THAT IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE SERVING SIZE OF THE SHOTS ARE GETTING SLIMMER COMPARED TO THE OLDER DAYS.
SCANNING THROUGH THE MENU FOR OVER 10 TIMES, I THINK  I NARROWED DOWN MY SELECTION BETWEEN THE SOUTHWEST BISTRO SALAD AND THE SEAFOOD MAC AND CHEESE.

LETS COMPARE:

SOUTHWEST BISTRO STEAK SALAD All Natural, Marinated, Thinly Sliced Beef over Fresh Greens with Monterey Jack & Cheddar Cheeses, Fire Roasted Red & Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Black Beans and Corn. Topped with Vinaigrette Dressing. $9.95
SEAFOOD MAC & CHEESE A Five Cheese Homemade Macaroni & Cheese with Pan Seared Shrimp, Scallops and Mushrooms. Topped with Scallions. Too Good to Be True! $11.99

I WENT WITH THE SOUTHWEST BISTRO STEAD SALAD BECAUSE I WAS CURIOUS WITH THE SAUCE ON THE PICTURE THAT WAS POSTED ON THE MENU WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE HORSERADISH SAUCE, AND THEIR VINAIGRETTE DRESSING TASTED LIKE BASIC ITALIAN DRESSING. OVERALL, IT WAS OKAY.  DECENT PORTION IN SIZE.

THE THIN FRIED ONIONS ON TOP WAS A AWESOME COMBINATION WITH THE BEEF AND GREENS.  I GUESS FOR ME, THE BEEF NEEDED SOMETHING BECAUSE IT WAS ON THE DRIED SIDE AND DIDN'T REALLY HAVE ANY TASTE IN IT, SO THE FRIED ONION STRIPS AND THE HORSERADISH SAUCE WITH THE ITALIAN SAUCE WITH IN THE GREENS GAVE IT A NUDGE IN TASTE AND TEXTURE.  I'M JUST NOT FALLING OVER THE SEAT OVER IT.
HAD A SIDE OF THE LOADED POTATOES FOR $1.95.
IT WAS LITERALLY A SCOOP SMALLER THAN MY FIST AND WAS SEMI WARM SLASH COLD.  THEY WERE NOT AS CREAMY AS THE ONES AT CHILLIS AND CHILLIS SELLS THEM FOR $1.79 AND YOU GET A PLATE FULL INSTEAD OF A DELICATE SCOOP FULL.
(JUST SAYING)
MY DEAR FRIEND NARROWED DOWN BETWEEN THE STEAK FAJITA AND THE CAJUN CHICKEN PASTA.
LETS COMPARE:
FAJITAS Served on a Sizzling Bed of Red & Green Peppers and Onions with Warm Flour Tortillas, Shredded Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Cheddar Cheese & Sour Cream. Add Guacamole 99¢
STEAK Choice Flat Iron Steak Cooked to Perfection and Smothered with Onions & Peppers.  $11.95
CAJUN CHICKEN PASTA Blackened Chicken, Mushrooms, Scallions & Tomatoes Tossed with Linguini in a Spicy Alfredo Sauce. $11.99
FRIEND SELECTED THE STEAK FAJITA WITH ADDED GUAC AND ADDED MUSHROOMS.

THE STEAK STRIPS WERE DRY FOR A WELL DONE.

PERHAPS WE BOTH SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH OUR 2ND ALTERNATIVE.

VEGGIES WERE NOT REALLY GRILLED TO PERFECTION.   AND VISUALLY I COUNTED A TOTAL OF 2 MUSHROOMS WITH THE EXTRA MUSHROOMS REQUEST.  LETS JUST SAY THAT THERE WERE 2 MORE EXTRA MUSHROOMS TUCKED UNDERNEATH THE PILE OF FOOD, IT WOULD HAVE MADE IT 25 CENTS PER SLICE OF MUSHROOM SINCE THEY CHARGED 75 CENTS FOR THE ADDED VEGGIES.

2012 08 12 YELPING ABOUT BURGER KING ON JOHN YOUNG PARKWAY

IMAGES ABOVE FROM BURGER KING WEBSITE

REPOST FROM YELP

DAY AT LOCATION- 8/3/12_TIME AROUND 3:30PM
LOCATION  = 8409 South John Young Parkway Orlando, FL 32819-9039
2 OF 5 STARS VOTING FOR  - BK OF JOHN YOUNG PKWY

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT VS STAFF COMMUNICATION INEFFICIENCIES.

ALL THE HYPE OF THIS NEW PRODUCT
(SERVICE)
THEIR SERVICE WAS NOT THE GREATEST AND BRIGHTEST GIVEN THAT THERE WERE ABOUT 2-3 CUSTOMERS IN LINE, ALONG WITH 2-3 CARS FOR DRIVE THROUGH.

EXCITED ABOUT THE NEWLY ADVERTISED SWEET POTATO FRIES, AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT THE SWEET POTATO FRIES WERE DISCONTINUED.

STAFF RECOGNIZED THAT THE POSTER OF THE PRODUCT WAS STILL ON THE WINDOW WITH THE LISTED DATE OF THE TEMPORARY PRODUCT LASTING UNTIL SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER.  HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT WAS DISCONTINUED.  PERHAPS SHE MEANT THAT THEY WERE SOLD OUT?
STAFF ALSO POINTED TO THE SIGNAGE ON THE WINDOW AND ADMITTED THAT IT WAS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT WITHOUT MY MENTIONING OF THAT IDEA.

I THEN ORDERED ONION RINGS INSTEAD WITH ANOTHER STAFF.

QUESTIONED IF THE ONION RING SAUCE WAS STILL AVAILABLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A .25 CHARGE. REALLY? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN.
THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A LANGUAGE BARRIER WITH THIS PARTICULAR STAFF. I RE-PHRASED MY QUESTION, AND SHE STILL NOTED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTRA CHARGE WITH THIS SAUCE.

BETWEEN THE SLOW SERVICE WITH THE LOBBY THAT WAS NOT FULLY OF PEOPLE AND CONFUSING COMMUNICATION, IT WAS REALLY TAKING TOO MUCH OF MY TIME FOR A FAST FOOD JOINT.

TIME TO PEACE OUT WITH A DISAPPOINTED VIEW WITH BK.

WENT HOME AND COMMENTED ON MY FACEBOOK, AND IT TURNED OUT THAT MORE PEOPLE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE!

2012 07 19 YELPING: AN ECONOMICAL TASTY NITE AT ORLANDO'S HAMBURGER MARY'S

DATE: 7/19/12
LOCATION: HAMBURGER MARY'S
Church Street Station  110 W Church St, Orlando, FL 32801
                      (321) 319-0600
                      Fax (321) 319-0601
                      THEIR EVENT SCHEDULE: http://hamburgermarys.com/orlando/events/

THURSDAY NIGHT$3 LONG ISLAND ICE TEA ALL NIGHT HAD THE FIRECRACKER HAMBURGER AND IT WAS SO GOOOOD.  I THOUGHT THAT THE SAUCE WAS THE MAIN CONTRIBUTOR OF THE GREATNESS IN TASTE, THE BURGER WAS TOPPED WITH A DARK COLOR SWEET SAUCE (SLIGHTLY SPICEY), MELTED CHEESE IN WHICH I THINK IT WAS WHITE CHEDDAR, CRISPY WONTON NOODLE BITS, AND COOKED ONIONS. THE TASTE WAS CERTAINLY DIFFERENT IN A GOOD WAY.  I ALSO TASTE A BIT OF THE MEATLOAF AND ALTHOUGH THE TEMPERATURE OF THE MEATLOAF WAS NEITHER HOT NOR COLD, AGAIN THE TASTE OF THE SAUCE WITHIN THE MEATLOAF MADE ME THINK THAT MAYBE A HINT OF SWEET SAUCE WERE PRE-MIXED AND ALREADY COOKED IN IT.  THE ATMOSPHERE WAS PRETTY LIVELY WITH KARAOKE NIGHT IN PLACE.  ALMOST FELT LIKE THEY WERE STALLING THE OTHER PERFORMERS EXTEND THE NIGHT A LITTLE BIT WITH LOTS OF TALKING AND LESS CALLING PEOPLE ON STAGE TO SING.  OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO VOLUNTEER THEIR NATURAL TALENT.STAFF WERE SUPER NICE.
