2012 10 31 DEATH TO CANONG9

ONE OF THE IMPORTANT VISUAL DAYS TO BE SNAPPING PHOTOS IS OF COURSE HALLOWEEN!

ON THIS IMPORTANT PHOTO OPPORTUNITY DAY, I WHIPPED OUT MY HANDY DANDY CANON G9 AND SOMETHING WAS WRONG!  EVERYTHING CAME TO A HAULT.
THE LENS ONLY POPPED 1/2 WAY OUT!  ALSO NOTICED THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING ON THE LCD WHICH MEANS THAT THE POWER WAS NOT ON.
THE BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED LAST NITE.
BOUGHT THE CAMERA BACK IN LATE 2008, AND ALTHOUGH I USE THIS ON A NORMAL BASES TO SNAP RANDOM PIX AND EVERYDAY FINDS, IT MADE ME QUESTION IF THESE CAMERAS ONLY LAST 3-4 YEARS.

WENT ONLINE AND SEARCHED UNDER KEYWORDS "CANON G9 NO POWER", AND FOUND SOME INFORMATIVE PAGES: g9nopoweryoutubeforum
BASICALLY, THIS IS A NORMAL THING FOR THIS MODEL.
THIS WAS A VERY HEART BREAKING INFORMATION TO FIND BECAUSE I RESEARCHED HIGH AND LOW AT THE TIME AND THIS CAMERA HAD GREAT REVIEWS.  THIS CAMERA STILL HAS GREAT REVIEWS, BUT OF COURSE ANYTHING THAT IS RELATE TO THIS LOOSE SCREW CAUSE COMPLAINTS ARE DEDICATED AT OTHER FORUMS.
SO IF YOU DONT KNOW THAT THIS IS A NORMAL PROBLEM AND JUST TYPE IN CANON SERIES REVIEW, IT IS UNLIKELY THAT YOU WILL FIND THIS RELATED TOPIC.

OH WAIT! BUT IF YOU USE KEYWORDS SUCH AS "CANON G9 SERIES ISSUES", YOU MAY BE ABLE TO EYEBALL SOME TOPICS AN FORUMS OF RELEVANCE.

APPARENTLY, THE ISSUE IS THE DESIGN WHERE LOOSE SCREWS INSIDE CAUSES SHORT FUSE.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

AND THIS IS NOT THE ONLY MODEL THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM, G7 ALSO HAS THIS PROBLEM.

HOW AM I TO TRUST THAT THE OTHER CANON PRODUCTS TO FOLLOW DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

WAS ON THE PHONE WITH ONE OF THE "LOYALTY PROGRAM" REPS AND IT SEEMS LIKE THEY DONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT AS A HUGE PROBLEM.  IN THE LOYALTY PROGRAM THEY OFFER TO TRADE IN YOUR CAMERA WHEN YOU PURCHASE THEIR REFURBISHED CAMERAS AT A 20% OFF DISCOUNTED PRICE.

ALTHOUGH THE REP WAS POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL (IN WHICH I APPLAUD), THE IMAGE THAT IS BEING PORTRAYED BEING THAT THERE IS A HUGE MARKET FULL OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS OKAY TO PRODUCE PROBLEM PRODUCTS.
AND IT SUCKS TO BE YOU IF YOU JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE A PROBLEM CHILD PRODUCT.
